Cider i tanken ! kan de va nått ? nån här som testat ? Kan det stämma eller är det ett aprilskämt ?
Mark Fugate :
I have been experimenting with nitrate reduction using apple cider with
excellent results. That is, being able to keep nitrate levels at "0"/unmeasurable levels, and all of the inverts seem to be doing better, especially my carpet anemone. Has anyone else tried this, or heard of
anyone doing this? Does anyone have any comments?
I add two Tablespoons daily to 160 gallons of reef, rock, and sand bed.
I use a Plenum and I'm wondering if the enzymes in unfiltered cider or the sugars are doing the trick.
Also, the last time I ceased using cider, I did not detect its presence in the skimmer when I started back up. This leads me to believe that something, either the sand bed, or the critters may be metabolizing it, because when NO3 is zero, I detect the cider, and when NO3 is greater than zero, I do not detect it.
Finally, since starting this, my Bismuth rock has grown! And I have been told that Bismuth is a losing proposition.
