Så här står det om mitt uv-c filter (från aquaristic.net). Som jag uppfattar det tar den bättre bort bakterier och algsporer om vattnet går rätt långsamt igenom den. Jag har en liten cirkulationspump - slang till uv-c - slang från uv-c tillbaka till akvariumet. Finns dränkbara också som nämns ovan.

JBL AquaCristal UV-C

Water clarifier for the aquarium (freshwater and saltwater) and pond.

Bacteria-destroying UV-C radiation of about 255 nm reliably and quickly removes green (floating algae) and white (bacterial) cloudiness.
No harmful side-effects.
Reduces amount of germs and decreases risk of infection.
Highly effective by reflecting the radiation on the white inner wall of the robust, UV-resistant casing.
Inlet and outlet on the same side, saving space when installing. Channelling in casing ensures optimum water flow.

The aquarium or pond water is channelled in a thin stream through a special water-tight casing past a UV-C compact lamp. The white inner wall of the casing ensures increased reflection of the UV-C radiation and therefore increased effectiveness compared to appliances with dark inner casing walls. In the 9 – 36 W models, a water flow system in the casing ensures improved contact with the UV-C radiation. The UV-C rays penetrate the water as it flows through, destroying algae cells as well as bacteria and other germs. Cloudiness caused by bacteria and floating algae is successfully eliminated. The spread of stubborn algae, such as thread algae, can also be reduced as its spores are destroyed to a large extent. The germicidal effect also improves the health of the fish as the level of germs in the water is reduced, decreasing the risk of infection. The appliance uses the physical principle of radiation which causes absolutely no changes to the water values and has no negative effect on the cleansing bacteria in the filter which are vital for the breakdown of pollutants.
